Sustainable Style: Everlane Straight Leg Corduroy Pants Review

This year, one of my goals is to shop more sustainable! Living in Florida, I tend to only buy one to two new pairs of pants if I buy any at all. That all changed when I discovered these straight leg corduroy pants from Everlane! I now want them in every color (hello navy!) and hope they release the same style with girly Spring colors like pink and yellow! Their also sustainable and ethically made! Already meeting my goal. SCORE! 🙌

Now, maybe your wondering what the heck sustainable style is or maybe you heard about it around the grapevine…since its one of the top trending words for 2020! Well if you don’t know, let me tell you all about it! Back in, oh gosh, 2013, right after I graduated college, I attended the Passion Conference.  One of their main topics was shedding light on modern day human slavery. You know when you hear about a crisis or big issue and you wonder how in the world you fit in or can make a difference? After a little research, I found out how corrupt parts of the fashion industry were by treating workers inhumanely. I knew right then in my heart I wanted to help change the fashion industry in some way.

At the time there didn’t seem to be any laws on poor labor wages or horrid working conditions, like factories collapsing on garment workers overseas. Right away I got to researching and found brands like 31 Bits and Everlane who were paving a path for sustainable style. That’s where my love for transparency and the desire to create quality clothing was born. I knew I now had a starting point for accomplishing my biggest dream since I was a kid…to start a sustainable clothing line full of color.

If you don’t know about Everlane, they are all about transparency and designing sustainable clothes at affordable prices for everyday girls like us! You can even see the factory in China where these corduroy pants were made! I’ve shopped at Everlane for a few years now and want to keep supporting them! Even my small purchase makes a difference! Over the years they have really expanded their inventory from very minimal pieces and added super colorful items! That’s my only tiff with the ethical/sustainable trend and new brands emerging left and right. Many lack colorful clothing and are geared towards a more capsule wardrobe lifestyle…which is absolutely not for me.

My Review of the Everlane Straight Leg Corduroy Pants

When I originally saw these pants, I was sold on the bone color and straight pant style. I only had one pair of white pants in my closet, so I was happy to welcome another light colored pair with a bit more relaxed look and feel! Now my pants have a BFF! #twinsies

Usually when I order an item, I am a stickler about reading reviews and re-reading them so I don’t have to return anything. The reviews on these seemed to say they ran very large…so I ordered a 2 instead of my normal 4. When I got them, they were creating a borderline muffin top. You know, what you can squeeze into a pair of pants but know your meant for a size bigger?! It was not to cute. Order your reg size and they will be perfect! They are fitted but not tight like a skinny jean, yet roomy enough to move.

Is anyone else bored with their winter style yet?! I am! IDK how you cold weather people do it! I am all ready drooling over Spring style and have been planning a few resort wear posts to bring some color into your life! You know what though?! If we are going to do winter, we need to go all out! Nothing says winter like a statement white on white look (or cream on cream if were going to be specific).

Styling my cream cable knit sweater with the cream Everlane pants is so eye catching, I love it! I wore this exact outfit to church before I shot this look and everyone who complimented me loved the all white look! Sometimes something so simple can go a long way! I do prefer to style cropped pants with a block heel to add height. I didn’t totally expect my socks to show so much but hey, it’s kind of fun! Sort of. 😜 If I would re-style the pants, I would invest in a block heel to add height and cover my socks!
