Soho Living Room

Our move from NYC to CT happened so quickly, and I never got around to sharing our full NYC living room on here. We loved our furniture in this space and actually kept all of it for our CT living room. Overall, I wanted the room to feel cozy, but also sophisticated, with an understated glamour. Soho Living Room Restoration Hardware Black Velvet Couch This black velvet Restoration Hardware couch really added warmth to the space, and was such a focal piece in the room. We custom ordered it off the RH website, and the exact style name is called the: Belgian Classic Roll Arm Three-Seat-Cushion sofa. It has held up beautifully, and this jumbo lint roller does wonders if you have a dog! Anecdote White Linen Swivel Chairs These linen arm chairs are 100% worth the investment. They came from a stunning home decor store called; Anecdote. We went with the creamy white linen material. The base is a subtle brass color and looks really luxe! They are insanely comfortable, down filled, and one of the pieces I get asked about the most. This is another option that is made of a fun boucle material. Anecdote White Marble Coffee Table This coffee table is so elegant, and would look amazing in any space. It’s thin enough to fit in a studio apartment or smaller NYC space, but actually still works in our new CT living room styled with coffee table books. This is a great alternative if you want to spend under $350! Anecdote Natural Jute Rug Anecdote was kind enough to gift me this jute rug, and it really tied everything together. It is SO sturdy and I loved that I didn’t have to worry about it pulling or shedding like crazy. It’s also very reasonably priced compared to other jute rugs I’ve seen. They also just started carrying this tighter woven jute rug that is really chic. Restoration Hardware Gold Gilt mirror This gold gilt mirror really packs a punch. It would look great over a fireplace, on a dresser, or behind a sofa like I had it here. The larger size is incredible, but HUGE and I made the mistake of ordering that one first – but it overpowered the room and didn’t even fit in the elevators or stairs haha! I would definitely recommend going with this half size. Restoration Hardware Linen Curtains I have an entire blog post on curtains here, but the exact ones pictured are the: Heavyweight Textured Linen French Pleat curtains in white (which is more like a creamy white, and fades to an even creamier color as it ages.) Aerin Floor Lamp This floor lamp is one of my absolute favorites, and I would buy it again in a heartbeat! It would fit any style home/room and is simple and classic. It’s on sale here. Stay tuned for the rest of my Soho Apartment tour coming soon!

Summer Style Q+A

I received so many great questions on stories asking for summer style advice. While I love answering them on IG, I’m able to go wayyy more in depth on the blog, so I’ve comprised them all here for you! Now you can reference this post again and again this summer. Summer Style Q+A What are the best summer shoes for the day that aren’t sandals? I love my classic white Thousand Fell sneakers. Not only are they a sustainable brand, their sneakers are SO flattering and chic on. I find that they run a little big, so I actually went down a size and took the 8 instead of 9 (I’m typically an 8.5/9.) And you can never go wrong with Chanel slingbacks. What should I wear to a wine tasting? A nice floral or white midi dress that’s flowy and bohemian with sandals. I love this one, this one, this one, this one and this one. Wedding guest dress suggestions? You’re in luck, I just did an entire blog post on that here! And I update my Bridal Shop page weekly with wedding guest dress picks as well. What are your favorite affordable lightweight jackets or sweaters to wear with a casual dress? I’m a huge fan of a white blazer over a sundress because you instantly look put together! I LOVE Mango blazers and jackets – this white linen one is under $80. This linen blend Veronica Beard one is a splurge, but I wear it ALL the time. I also like pairing a green military style jacket with a white dress – and this one is under $18. And this beige cardigan is beautiful and under $15. What are your favorite affordable beach totes? This straw tote has been my go-to for years! I also love this one. What are your favorite sandals? Hermes Oran sandals, these Valia Gabriel lace up sandals, TKEES flip flops, these Alexandre Birman sandals, these gold Alexandre Birman sandals, these Stuart Weitzman sandals, and the Sam Edelman Gigi sandals. What are cute yet walkable spring shoes for NYC that aren’t white sneakers? The Sam Edelman Gigi sandals and my Hermes Oran sandals are always great for walking around the city. I also love to wear my Chanel slingbacks. What to wear on a date night when you feel bloated/not cute? A flowy midi dress from my Fashion Shop page. What are your favorite jeans and denim shorts? These RE/DONE jeans are my absolute favorite right now! SO comfy and run true to size. LOVE them in white too. This pair of cream Ann Taylor jeans has been on heavy rotation. And you can never go wrong with these AGOLDE denim cut offs. What type of daytime heel can I wear on vacation other than a wedge? This espadrille is a wedge, but really unique looking. I love this Alexandre Birman block sandal, and this Schutz strappy sandal is a favorite. How do I style a slip dress? Throw a leather jacket over it, throw an oversized blazer over it, pair it with a long draped cardigan, tie a cashmere sweater over your shoulders, or put on a crisp white button down blouse and tie it at the waist! Are Hermes sandals worth it? Yes! So comfy and have lasted me 5+ years already! What should I wear on my upcoming vacation to Cape Cod/Nantucket? I have a Travel App that not only has the best restaurants, shops, hotels, and fun things to do in Nantucket, but also outfit recommendations. You can download it on your phone or view it on desktop here!

Wedding Guest Dresses

Wedding season is upon us! I always like to have a few wedding guest dress options hanging in my closet for upcoming weddings. It’s always those times when you’re looking for something specific, that it seems impossible to find you know?! So, to minimize last minute-panic dress shopping, I stock up on 2-3 styles that I know I’ll be able to wear for any special occasion! Here are a few that caught my eye. Wedding Guest Dresses My go-to colors for wedding guest dresses are; navy and black, but I also love a soft pink or blue in the spring/summer. The right floral print can be gorgeous as well. They say it’s a faux pas to wear red to someone’s wedding, but I don’t know…is it? If it’s a destination wedding somewhere like Miami then I don’t think it would be inappropriate, but that’s just me! I would obviously stay away from any sort of white or ivory shade dress though haha! Wedding Accessories You can never go wrong with a strappy Stuart Weitzman nudistong sandal. If you’re worried about comfort, they have a ton of nice block/lower heel options. I think an open toe heel looks best with a long gown versus a pump. I also love Aquazzura, Jimmy Choo and Alexandre Birman heels. For more budget friendly options, I love this Just Fab block sandal (I have it in both colors) and this braided sandal that comes in brown and white! For clutches I love this one, this one, this one, this one, and this one. How fun is this glitter one?! And don’t be afraid to rock a playful earring or bold necklace!

What To Wear: Engagement Photos

One of the most frequently-asked-questions I’ve received since getting engaged has been, “What should I wear for my engagement photos?” I shared what I wore to our engagement in this post, but wanted to share more options below! What To Wear: Engagement Photos All White Engagement Outfits You don’t have to wear white for your engagement photos, but I really do love an all white outfit! I think it’s special to wear a ton of white leading up to your wedding. I’ll link a few styles I love below, but since things tend to sell out quickly, I’ll also share the retailers and brands I recommend looking at first for white outfits. For retailers, I’m always able to find beautiful pieces at; Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, The Outnet, Moda Operandi, Intermix, and Net A Porter. I particularly love the brands; Zimmermann, Faithfull, Alexis and Love Shack Fancy for romantic, ethereal white dresses. I’m loving this dress, this dress, this dress, this dress, this dress, this dress, and this dress. I also love a two piece set like I wore, with a crop top and midi skirt! Dressy or Casual You can choose to wear something dressy or more casual – there are no rules when it comes to picking out an outfit for engagement photos! My advice is to take into account your location, and what your partner is willing to wear/will look good in. From there, I’d order a few options and lay out your looks on the bed with your partner’s looks to see what will feel cohesive. And who says you can’t shoot more than one outfit?! One dressy, one casual! Non white engagement outfits I love a subtle floral midi dress that feels feminine with a touch of bohemian. I also love a pop of color like a soft pink or blue. A few dresses I’d opt for are this one, this one, this one and this one. And this navy blue wrap dress is so elegant (also comes in pink!) Shoes to wear to an engagement shoot Your shoe choice will depend on your location and dress style. If you’re doing a more formal dress, you can never go wrong with the Alexandre Birman Clarita sandal (comes in multiple colors) or the Stuart Weitzman nudistong heel. For the fall, I love a subtle suede taupe or brown leather boot with a floral midi dress. A gold or light brown sandal (love a lace up or thong style) would be beautiful with a more casual dress. I don’t love a wedge and I’m not a huge fan of a block heel in photos since they tend to look too chunky. I’d opt for something classic that elongates your legs. If you really love a loud shoe, I’d save it for your engagement party or rehearsal dinner! Jimmy Choo has some really fabulous ones. Accessories You don’t need to have a purse in the photos and I wouldn’t do loud jewelry. I’d stick with a pretty pearl earring like this or the gold charm earrings I always wear which are included in my favorite jewelry post. A gold necklace like this one or a white + gold necklace like this one would be perfect.
