Ah jeans, the never ending hunt for the perfect pair.

Sure, you want them to fit well in all the right places and land a decent price point but have you considered what jeans are the best choice for the environment?

The fashion industry is one of the biggest offers to damaging our lovely Mother Earth.  Both the consumption and production of garments creates environmental issues including pollution, landfill waste, and excessive water usage, with denim ranking as one of the top offenders.

Yes denim can be a dirty business.

I’m not saying you have to stop wearing jeans, I mean come on they are a timeless wardrobe staple. But, there is a way you can shop SMARTER by opting for jeans made from TENCEL.

What is TENCEL?

TENCEL™ is a brand name for a set of fibers called lyocell and modal. Its fibers are among the best environmentally friendly fibers around and a green alternative for your closet staples because it’s made from trees. Yep, trees! Plus it’s super soft, extra comfy, maintains breathability and allows for easy movement. And since the fabric naturally absorbs and then releases excess moisture, it even helps ward off nasty bacteria — making your skin feels fresher throughout the day.

This sustainable material is biodegradable because it’s manufactured in a way that allows it to eventually return to nature, reducing the amount of textile waste that gets tossed in a landfill.

TENCEL/Lyocell is made by dissolving wood pulp and mixing it with a wet solvent. The mixture is dried by a spinning process and is then formed into thread. Once the thread is treated, it can be spun into yarn or cloth. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable. As a result, they will eventually revert back to nature.

By combining these sustainable fibers with upcycled cotton to create denim and using significantly less water throughout the dyeing stage, it’s fair to say that TENCEL jeans are the super product of a process that’s eco-friendly from start to finish.

When it comes to de-puffing a swollen face, whether from a salty dinner the previous night, lack of sleep, too much alcohol or seasonal allergies, the best tried-and-true method is treating your skin to some good old-fashioned ice therapy.

The ice roller is the latest beauty craze to hit TIKTOK and Instagram feeds.  They are a pretty simple little gadget that looks kind of like a mini paint roller. Inside the roller is a mixture of gel and water which turns to ice when put into the freezer. But, unlike ice, it takes far longer to melt (if you apply ice to your face, it melts within seconds) meaning there’s more time to reap the rewards.

You just stick these bad boys in the freezer to get them nice and chilly, then roll out your face. I love using cold compresses whenever my skin gets inflamed especially around the eyes so I was super excited to try this trend out.

And oh my oh my, it is everything the internet promises.  I have rosacea so for me it really is helping with reducing redness.  I have been using the Stacked Skincare Ice Roller from Neiman Marcus.  This facial roller is designed with a premium stainless steel surface, allowing the tool to retain its coolness while you massage your skin. Few food treats have reached the iconic status that Disneyland’s Dole Whip has. I can’t imagine visiting the park and not indulging in one of these tasty treats.

For those of you that don’t know, a Dole Whip is a pineapple-flavored soft-serve ice cream. It’s practically achieved a cult following as visitors to Disney will wait in a very long line just to get one on a hot day.

The Dole Whip was originally created by the fruit company, Dole, but became available at Disneyland’s Tiki Bar in 1986. It’s now served at a few different locations in the park and also across the country, but is synonymous with Disneyland.

A few years ago I visited a non-Disney related Tiki Bar who had the GENIUS idea of adding rum to this classic frozen dessert!  GAME CHANGER!

Of course I HAD to come up with my own version to blend up at home.

The Koloa Rum Pineapple Freeze is a smooth frozen alcoholic drink that’s made in the blender. With just four ingredients you’ll have a fruity and fun drink that brings back all the childhood joy of Disneyland but with an adult twist.

The key ingredient to this recipe is the the “topper” or “floater” of Koloa Kaua’i Coconut Rum. Sustainably sourced and crafted from premium ingredients including native tall sugarcane grown on the island of Kaua’i, they use a 1210 gallon copper-pot still to create their rums. Each product is twice distilled, blended and bottled on site. Their distillery and bottling facility is housed in Kalaheo and produces both Koloa’s Hawaiian rum and Kukui brand fruit products. Unlike most rum it’s flavor is full but not overly sweet which pairs well with the sweet flavor of the frozen pineapple and ice cream, PLUS it’s 80 proof status gives the cocktail the perfect kick.

Now, get out your Disney ears and be prepared to be “wowed” by this delish Koloa Rum Pineapple Freeze cocktail. Be warned, it’s bound to bring out your “goofy” side.

Fashion is having a SUPERSIZED moment.  Oversized jeans, oversized jackets, boyfriend button-ups and of course oversized t-shirts.

With our renewed fashion love for all things 90s, the nostalgic skatewear staple was bound to rear it’s head this season.

After all, skatewear is the original streetwear and streetwear has become high-fashion. So thanks to some basic mathematics, oversized baggy tees,  a favorite of 90s ollie 360 flipping boarders, are now high-fashion.

When rockin’ the oversized t-shirt trend the usual rules about the T-shirts sleeve hitting the middle of the bicep don’t apply, with some cuts falling as low as the elbow. Just consider adding a few rolls to the hem to avoid your arms looking to stubby.

As with any statement trend, it’s important to avoid the temptation to go crashing in on the trend head to toe. This style works best when you dip your toes in gently at first.

You want to create balance.  An oversized tee paired with oversized jeans can leave you looking really sloppy. To keep your look sleek and stylish you need to balance out the oversized with a slimmer fit elsewhere.  If you wear oversized on top try to keep it a normal fit on the bottom, but avoid super skinny as the extreme contrast will look out of place.

My heart has been stolen by Comme des Garçons Play Chucks.

After being on a waitlist for what seemed like FOREVER I finally got to slip my foot into a pair of  Comme des Garçons Play x Converse.

I have been ogling these babies for awhile now and finally pulled the trigger when I saw these cute khaki low tops! Playful but designer you will be seeing me in these on repeat.

In case you haven’t joined the cult that is CDG yet, here’s a little info:

Comme des Garçons was founded by Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, and launched by Kawakubo in 1969. The brand came into global prominence in the ’80s with its dismantled, unconstructed approach to design.

COMME des GARÇONS PLAY, the brand’s more casual luxury line, was launched in 2002. It became immediately recognizable from its iconic peeping heart logo, designed by Polish artist Filip Pagowski.

The first-ever Converse x Comme des Garçon project released in 2009, but became more readily available during the 2015 release. Combining the simplicity of Converse and the exuberant design aspects of Comme des Garçons the collaboration became an immediate hit. Since then the eye-catching heart logo has become recognizable around the globe and has garnered a cult following of both celebrates and fashion aficionados.

These kicks sell out as faster than stores can stock them. New limited edition designs are launched each season making them highly coveted by sneaker collectors.
