Goodwood Museum & Gardens—A Notice Concerning COVID-19
March 13, 2020
Goodwood’s Board of Directors and staff are following governmental and public health recommendations for maintaining a healthy environment for all of our visitors, renters, volunteers, and staff. We have addressed cleaning practices, the policy for private events in Goodwood’s rental facilities, and the schedule for public events. We are closely monitoring the situation, and will continue to adapt as recommended in order to ensure everyone’s safety.
We have increased our cleaning practices in all facilities across the museum campus. We have hand sanitizer available at the entrances to publicly accessible buildings, as well as sanitizing wipes near workstations and counters so that employees and volunteers can keep them continuously cleaned.
At this time, Goodwood is not cancelling private events under 250 people. Rental customers are encouraged to contact JoAnn Bixler, Director of Rentals and Special Events, to discuss any necessary changes to existing contracts (850.877.4202 x226 or jabixler@goodwoodmuseum.org).
In accordance with Governor De Santis’ recommendations, for the next 30 days Goodwood has cancelled “mass gatherings,” as well as smaller events where appropriate social distancing may not be possible. For the time being, we are continuing to offer previously scheduled programs and museum tours in which there is an ability to maintain personal space with a small number of participants. In addition, the grounds and gardens remain open for healthy walks in greenspace. Importantly, we encourage all people to assess their own personal risk before making a decision to attend any Goodwood activities.
Because this situation remains fluid, decisions on public events and programming beyond the next 30 days have not been finalized. Please monitor www.GoodwoodMuseum.org or our Facebook page @GoodwoodMuseumGardens for current information.
Safety remains our top priority, and we are closely following the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) guidelines and recommendations on the steps we can take to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We have shared specific instructions with our employees and volunteers on the importance of washing their hands, staying home if they feel sick, and reporting relevant travel activities. Per CDC recommendations, we will ask employees and volunteers who have traveled internationally or on cruises, or have been exposed to others who have traveled to such locations, to self-quarantine for 14 days.
We wish everyone a safe and healthy spring.
Sincerely,
